BIOSKETCH: Chuck Nicholson became interested in agriculture following a stint as a small livestock extension agent with the US Peace Corps in sub-Saharan Africa in the mid-1980s. He has an undergraduate degree in Economics from UC Davis, and MS and PhD degrees in Agricultural Economics from Cornell. Since completing graduate training, he has worked as a post-doctoral fellow with International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and as a faculty member at the University of Vermont. He returned to Cornell in 2000. He has conducted research on a wide variety of dairy-related issues in the US and the developing world.

PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS: Applied research related to US and international dairy production, markets, and policy. Current areas of research include modeling the impacts of domestic US dairy policy alternatives, dairy trade policy and international trade patterns, applications of system dynamics in agricultural economics research, and the economics of dairy production and marketing systems in developing countries.
